Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has suffered a bruised hip but Sir Alex Ferguson expects the Dutchman to make a quick recovery. Van Persie will be assessed by the United medical staff after falling into a photographer dug-out in the 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
Van Persie suffered the injury in the build up to United's goal and although the Dutch striker did look in considerable discomfort, he played on for 18 more minutes, almost scoring a goal, before being taken off.
Speaking to MUTV, Ferguson said, "He collided with a camera, which was in a dug-out piece of ground. He hit the base of it and has a very bruised hip. I imagine it will be tender and sore for a few days but hopefully he will be alright, especially for the Madrid game."
Ferguson is not positive if van Persie will feature for the Red Devils against Norwich next weekend but the United manager is sure that the striker will be experiencing soreness for the next few days. Van Persie did return to the match after halftime to sit with the team on the bench which was also an encouraging sign. United take on Real Madrid on Tuesday March 5th and Ferguson is confident his star striker will be fit for that game.Tags: Manchester, Manchester United, Premier League, Queens Park Rangers, Real Madrid, Robin van Persie, Sir Alex Ferguson, Soccer
