Despite continued reports that Manchester United wish to strengthen their squad this January, Sir Alex Ferguson has moved to deny that the club are looking at signings. Ferguson famously does not like the January window, often citing a lack of value in the market at this time of year.
United have been linked with many players this January and there have been widespread reports that Ferguson was very interested in signing Chelsea pair Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole. Sources within the club have moved this week to distance themselves from such speculation saying that the club are not interested in the Chelsea players.
Another player that may be a more realistic signing that United have been monitoring is Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, but reports have suggested that the two clubs will come to an agreement to allow the player to remain at Palace until the end of the season. Ferguson has told the media recently that there is nothing to report and that there are no impending arrivals due at Old Trafford this January.
