Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Nani and Anderson will be fit for Manchester United's match against Liverpool this Sunday. The midfield pair have been out since November and December respectively with hamstring problems but will finally be ready to feature for the club again.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Wayne Rooney will remain sidelined with a knee injury and will certainly miss the Liverpool encounter. Ferguson revealed however, that the England international will start training today and could feature for United in Wednesday's FA Cup replay against West Ham.
"Nani is back training and Anderson has been back for 10 days," Ferguson said. "They will be in the squad. But Wayne is still out. He will start training today. He is not far away and should be available for the FA Cup replay with West Ham on Wednesday."
Despite their different positions in the league table, United will expect a tough test when Liverpool visit Old Trafford. The two teams share one of the biggest rivalries in the game and encounters between the two clubs are always feisty affairs with both sides always up for a fight. Much of the previous controversy surrounding the clubs and specifically Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra was seemingly put to bed when the two met previously this season at Anfield. It was a special occasion that day as the British government revealed new facts about the Hillsborough Disaster and promised to investigate it.
United and Liverpool came together in a show of solidarity and goodwill towards eachother with Ryan Giggs and Steven Gerrard releasing balloons into the air. Evra and Suarez put aside their differences and shook hands which means that this Sunday's game will most likely be remembered for the right reasons.
