Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he plans on rotating Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand for the rest of the season in an effort to keep them both fit. Vidic has just returned from a second injury lay off due to a knee problem and Ferdinand has a history of back injuries.
The pair have started a game together in December but as of recently, Ferguson has been opting to play them every other week. The duo have, in previous seasons, formed one of the most formidable defensive partnerships in the world but injury has prevented them from recapturing that form. Ferguson does have good options however, with Jonny Evans stepping up his game this season and Chris Smalling and Phil Jones re-achieving fitness.
Evans has been a regular in central defense this season and has risen to the occasion quite well. Ferguson was full of praise for the Northern Ireland defender and it looks as if Evans will be the first choice from now until the end of the season.
