The Sun reports that Sir Alex Ferguson is still going to pursue Chelsea's Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole this summer. Lampard's contract will be up at the end of the season and his club have told him he can move on and Cole has failed to reach terms on an extension.
The Sun goes on to report that Ferguson will intend to offer both players a year long contract with the option to extend it to another year if all goes well. The main motive behind these moves would be that Manchester United are going to lose Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs to retirement and Ferguson would like to have experience in his squad.
If a move did materialize for both of these players, it would be difficult to imagine where they would fit in with both players well into their 30's. United usually have a policy that they will not invest major money in players of the age of 30 and excuse this policy on rare occasions. Neither United or Chelsea or the two players have made any comments on any moves that may take place this summer.
