Manchester United's summer signing Angelo Henriquez has officially joined Wigan for the remainder of the Premier League season on loan. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is excited about the prospect of the young 18 year old and hopes Henriquez will provide the Latics with a much needed spark.
Widely tipped as a future superstar striker, Chilean striker Henriquez was bought by United this past summer from his old club Universidad de Chile. Wigan had been expected to sign the striker and they finally have confirmed the loan of Henriquez. Struggling Wigan could use a player who can score them goals and Martinez hopes Henriquez is the man to do it.
Speaking to Wigan's official website, Martinez said, "We're really excited about Angelo because he is a very young man with a huge potential; he's a goalscorer with clever movement inside the box and has had a very successful time with his former club Universidad. We hope to have a good partnership in terms of allowing Angelo to develop as a footballer and learn of the demands of the English game, because I feel he can bring us something different in the forward line."
The loan move will benefit United as well as places in the forwards department at Old Trafford are hard to come by given the wealth of talent and options that Sir Alex Ferguson has at his disposal. Henriquez will have the chance to play in a first team and also gain valuable experience playing in the Premier League. United will hope that the young striker will return to Old Trafford a better player than when he left.
