The A-League All Star team will be selected by Australian fans although players such as Alessandro Del Piero, Emile Heskey and Shinji Ono are likely to take part in the match. With no major international tournament set to take place over the summer of 2013, United will be able to take a strong squad with them.

United will be spending six days in Sydney and United chief executive David Gill says that the club has made the decision to travel Down Under so that they can give Australian fans the opportunity to see the Red Devils. United last traveled to Australia 13 years ago.
