Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is a major doubt for Sunday's trip to face Manchester City after picking up a calf injury in United's Champions League loss to Cluj on Wednesday. Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that the injury is a major concern and could keep Cleverley out of action for some weeks.
Cleverley had to come off shortly before halftime in the Red Devil's loss to Cluj and was replaced by Paul Scholes. Ferguson is not too optimistic about Cleverley's chances of a quick return especially in time for Sunday's match at the Etihad Stadium.
"We'll assess Tom in the morning," Ferguson said. "He felt his calf a little but it's not good news. We'll see what he's like in the morning."
Scholes will most likely play in place of Cleverley on Sunday if the English midfielder is not fit to face City. Shinji Kagawa is nearing a return to first team action but is unlikely to be ready for the City match.Tags: Cluj, Manchester, Manchester City, Manchester United, Premier League, Shinji Kagawa, Sir Alex Ferguson, Soccer, Tom Cleverley
