With qualification through to the next round already assured for Manchester United in the Champions League, Sir Alex Ferguson has made some major changes to the squad that will travel to Turkey to face Galatasaray. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are among the notable absentees.
It is always a luxury for a team to secure a place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League early so that they can rest their first team players and give other younger players a big chance on the European stage. Ferguson has opted to leave Rooney, van Persie and Rio Ferdinand at home so that they can get some much needed rest. Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Antonio Valencia, and David de Gea have also been left out of the squad.
United will be taking a much changed squad to Turkey and giving a chance to young players such as goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and defender Tom Thorpe. Phil Jones is also a notable name on the team sheet as the defender has been out of action since the summer and has yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils this season. United's attack will be bolstered by Chicharito and Danny Welbeck. Federico Macheda finds himself included as well and the Italian striker will hope to impress.Champions League, Galatasaray, Manchester, Manchester United, Premier League, Robin van Persie, Sir Alex Ferguson, Soccer, Wayne Rooney
