Manchester United is sweating on the fitness of Wayne Rooney and Jonny Evans ahead of their Premier League match against Norwich on Saturday. Evans missed last week's game as well due to a groin injury which continues to be a problem for the defender and Rooney injured his ankle in last weekend's game against Aston Villa.
The good news on the injury front is that Robin van Persie, who pulled out of the Netherland's squad in midweek with a thigh complaint, should be fit to face Norwich. Rooney also pulled out of England's friendly and could be facing more time on the sidelines. Danny Welbeck is fit and could have a start and Chicharito is guaranteed a start after his fantastic performance against Villa last week. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will assess the two players before making a decision on whether they will be involved.
"We've still got some doubts about Wayne and Jonny Evans," Ferguson said. "I think Robin should be fit. We'll see what they are like today but there is a doubt."
United have some more welcome news with Ferguson stating that defender Phil Jones is very quickly nearing a return to fitness. Jones will fly with the team to Turkey to take on Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday. Ferguson says that Jones should be involved in that match which will give him some much needed playing time.
